Camp fYrefly

  • Camp fYrefly is a four-day individual/social learning and leadership camp that provides a safe and supportive environment where youth across differences in sexual orientation and gender identity can enhance their personal and social resilience. Camp fYrefly started in Edmonton in 2004. The camp expanded to Saskatchewan in 2009, alternating annually between Saskatoon and Regina. The Calgary camp started in 2013.
    Now Camp fYrefly is coming to Ontario in Summer 2017. Dr. Spencer J. Harrison is Camp Director for the Ontario camp, which is a joint venture of the School of Education & Professional Learning, Trent University and the Institute for Sexual Minority Studies and Services, University of Alberta. The fYrefly acronym stands for fostering, youth, resilience, energy, fun, leadership, yeah!

Gender Journeys

  • The CMHA HKPR Gender Journeys team creates, coordinates and delivers programs for trans and gender diverse individuals, as well as for family and partners. CMHA HKPR provides: information, opportunities and support services for people who identify as trans or gender diverse support programs for families, friends and partners of trans and gender non-conforming people resources, workshops and educational opportunities to service organizations, professionals, allies and communities that make up the Four Counties who want knowledge and connection to support.

Peterborough PRIDE

RYC (Rainbow Youth Coalition)

  • RYC is a coalition of service providers who strive to enrich the lives of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered, transsexual, 2-spirited and questioning youth (ages 14-25) in the counties of Peterborough, Northumberland, Haliburton, and the City of Kawartha Lakes. We do this through education, advocacy and outreach, and by supporting queer youth in the development of their social networks.

Sherbourne Health Centre

  • Sherbourne offers a wide range of primary healthcare programs and services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, two-spirit, intersex, queer, or questioning individuals. Our goal is to provide dignified, non-judgmental services to help clients feel better, cope better with day-to-day challenges and address specific LGBTQ health issues.

TransParent Canada

  • TransParent, a support network for the parents of trans children, was created in September 2005 as an associate group of the St. Catharines chapter of PFLAG.
    The local PFLAG chapter has been overwhelmingly supportive of the trans community and recognizes that trans people and their parents sometimes face different challenges than those in the gay and lesbian community. PFLAG parents have been great cheerleaders for the formation of this associate network.

TQC (Trent Queer Collective)

  • TQC exists to provide a safe space, resources, and social opportunities for queer students and their allies at Trent University in Peterborough. We strive to challenge all types of queer phobia at Trent University and in the Peterborough community through education and political action. We aim to foster a safe and anti-oppressive environment which affirms and celebrates the diversity and intersectionality of all queer identities.
